Hillary Clinton took a jab at President Donald Trump about the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, telling a radio show Monday, “I’m not sure he knows that Puerto Ricans are American citizens,” The Washington Post reported.

Trump on Tuesday said he would visit Puerto Rico next week, an announcement that came after the administration came under criticism for its response to the damage on the island from Hurricane Maria.

Puerto Rico has been reeling since the Category 4 hurricane hit last Wednesday, and many of the 3.4 million U.S. citizens there are without food, water and electricity. The president over the weekend focused on his opposition to professional football players kneeling during the national anthem, comments that triggered responses from many professional athletes and have dominated the news cycle.

“At the same time that he was doing all of that, we had American citizens in Puerto Rico who are in a desperate condition,” Clinton said, according to the Post.

“He has not said one word about them, about other American citizens in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I’m not sure he knows that Puerto Ricans are American citizens.”

Trump says Puerto Rico is important to him, and that a massive effort to help people recover from the hurricane is underway.
