2 men injured in Wednesday morning crash at Walnut and South Second streets

COSHOCTON, OH, (September 18, 2024) - Two pedestrians were injured Wednesday morning when they were hit by a vehicle at an intersection in Coshocton.

Pedestrian AccidentTwo pedestrian were injured Wednesday morning when they were hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Walnut and South Second streets in Coshocton.

According to the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office, 84-year-old Dorothy Gephart was operating a vehicle along Walnut Street when she attempted a left turn at South Second Street and struck two pedestrians in the crosswalk around 9:42 a.m.

Both victims sustained unspecified injuries and were taken to Genesis Hospital for treatment.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

The statistics are staggering: Approximately 6,227 pedestrians died in the U.S. in 2018, and even more injured, an increase of 250 from a year earlier, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.

This incident underscores the dangers that pedestrians face every day in this country. The cause of many of these accidents is negligent driving, distracted driving, or drivers failing to yield to pedestrians.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney and a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An examination of road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting is crucial. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victims may have the right to pursue personal injury claims pending an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.

"Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” he added.
