A 57-year-old Azusa woman died from injuries sustained in the wreck, officials say
AZUSA, CA, (December 25, 2024) - A multi-vehicle wreck on Wednesday morning along the Foothill (210) Freeway in Azusa left one person dead and injured three others, according to authorities.
Edmund Tseng, 25, of Azusa, was hospitalized with injuries following a two-vehicle collision on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Azusa Wednesday morning, according to a news report.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. at the South Azusa Avenue off-ramp to the eastbound 210 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a Ford Fusion was traveling in the number 2 lane, and just as it exited onto the Azusa Avenue off-ramp, the driver lost control, moved to the right, and crashed into a guardrail. The Ford then continued down an embankment into a parking lot at 229 Azusa Avenue, striking a parked Porsche Cayenne. As a result of the impact, the Porsche was pushed into a Dodge Charger, with debris hitting a Chevrolet Silverado truck.
A passenger in the Porsche—identified only as a 57-year-old Azusa woman—was killed in the collision. The juvenile driver of the Ford was also hurt. He was arrested after receiving treatment.
Edmund Tseng, 25, of Azusa, who drove the Porsche, was hospitalized with injuries, officials said.
This is an ongoing investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Each year, motor vehicle crashes in this country kill roughly 36,000 people and injure 1.9 million more. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney and Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond.
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Edmund Tseng may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.
Bond, a national legal analyst for Newsline, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.
“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” she added.
