Motorist charged with DUI after early Wednesday morning crash along State Route 39 injures Kia driver

PLANT CITY, FL, (December 25, 2024) - A 45-year-old woman is facing DUI-related charges after an early Wednesday morning wrong-way accident in Plant City left another motorist with injuries.

Wrong-wayFlor Perez Roblero was charged with DUI after allegedly triggering a wrong-way collision that injured another driver in Plant City.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says Flor Tulia Perez Roblero, of Plant City, was operating a Dodge Grand Caravan southbound along the northbound side of State Route 39  when she collided head-on with a Kia Sorrento near Knights Griffin Road at approximately 2:30 a.m.

The driver of the Kia, identified as a 68-year-old Zephyrhills woman, was hurt in the crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Roblero, who was also hospitalized, recorded a blood alcohol content of .108 and was charged with no valid license and DUI involving injury.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This accident was clearly preventable. Impaired drivers are a risk to everyone on the road, and can senselessly ruin people's lives.

"Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or kills another person,’’ explained Candice Bond, a Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Separate from criminal charges, the family of a victim may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Bond, an experienced DUI accident attorney.

According to the National Safety Council, the cause of 10 percent of all fatal automobile accidents is drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other medications. These accidents are the second-leading cause of automobile fatalities in this country.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victim may be entitled to an injury claim, and they may seek recovery for damages, including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.

“A major injury means that there will be a lot of challenges ahead. Attorneys know how to handle all the legal aspects of a case so a person could focus on healing and moving forward,” Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Newsline, said.

Bond added, “It doesn’t matter how large an insurance company a victim of a major crash is fighting; an attorney with experience and resources will ensure that the victim's right are protected and injuries are properly compensated.”
