Collision occurred Sunday evening along Interstate 71
DELAWARE, OH, (January 12, 2025) - Jacen Jeremay, 19, from Milan, was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Sunday at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Interstate 71 near mile marker 128.
Jacen Jeremay of Milan was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 71 in Berkshire Township on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred when a black Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 35-year-old male from Cleveland, crossed the median, overturned, and struck Jeremay's silver Chevrolet Silverado head-on. The impact caused Jeremay's vehicle to slide off the left side of the roadway.
Jeremay and his 19-year-old male passenger, also from Milan, were transported to Grant Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Hyundai Tucson was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 38-year-old female and a 10-year-old female passenger from the Hyundai were also seriously injured and transported to hospitals.
Debris from the impact struck a gray Toyota Tacoma driven by a 21-year-old man from Bay Village, causing minor injuries to him and his 20-year-old male passenger from Westlake.
The Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
CRASH INVESTIGATION
Each year, motor vehicle crashes in this country kill roughly 36,000 people and injure 1.9 million more. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, an experienced attorney and Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond.
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Jacen Jeremay may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.
Bond said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.
"Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” she added.
