The incident happened along Stenson View Drive near Sparrowk Road, authorities say
VALLEY SPRINGS, CA, (December 10, 2024) - A Tuesday evening crash in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County involving a UTV left one person injured, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Jesse Dille, a 29-year-old resident of Manteca, was airlifted to a hospital after being injured in a crash involving a utility task vehicle Tuesday evening in Valley Springs, according to authorities.
The victim—identified as Jesse Dille of Manteca—was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
Based on preliminary findings, a 2018 Polaris Razor with 29-year-old Dille as a passenger was traveling westbound at a property located at 8815 Stenson View Drive near Sparrowk Road and east of Highway 26 around 6 p.m. when the driver reportedly made a "sharp left-hand turn," causing the UTV to overturn onto its right side. Dille, who sat in the front seat, was ejected due to the impact, the report said.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to authorities.
The investigation is ongoing.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Each year, motor vehicle crashes in this country kill roughly 36,000 people and injure 1.9 million more. According to the Consumer Federation of America, as of January 2024, there were 498 fatalities in 2023 from off-highway vehicles (OHVs), which includes UTVs, mostly from ATV-related incidents.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney and Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond.
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Jesse Dille may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.
Bond, a national legal analyst for Newsline, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.
“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” she added.
