Tuesday night two-vehicle wreck occurred on Interstate 71

CLINTON, OH, (November 26, 2024) - An 18-year-old woman was fatally injured Tuesday night in a two-vehicle collision along Interstate 71 in Clinton County.

HighwayMakell Rhinehart was fatally injured Tuesday night in a multi-vehicle collision along Interstate 71 in Clinton County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), a 2017 Subaru Legacy heading southbound along I-71 collided with a 2022 Ram pickup truck traveling in the same direction shortly after 6 p.m.

A passenger in the Subaru, 18-year-old Chillicothe resident Makell Rhinehart, was rushed to Clinton Memorial Hospital where she tragically passed away.

The driver of the Subaru was taken to the same hospital with unspecified injuries.

An investigation into the incident is underway.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 42,514 people lost their lives in a reported 5,930,496 motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2022.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of any investigations, the family of Makell Rhinehart may pursue a wrongful death claim. Survivors of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

Bond, a national legal analyst for Newsline, said, “Grieving families of victims are sometimes overwhelmed by the legal processes that are in place to protect their rights. An attorney can be a valuable and compassionate resource to help guide a family during difficult times and ensure that those left behind receive the restitution they are entitled to.”

“No amount of money is enough for a victim or their family to deal with the trauma and pain they experienced after a catastrophic crash. However, an attorney can help ease the financial burden and provide a path forward,” Bond stated.
