1 dead, 2 injured in early Wednesday morning crash along 135th Street
LEMONT, IL, (February 05, 2025) - The Will County Sheriff's Office says an early Wednesday morning high-speed accident involving a Tesla claimed the life of one person and injured two others in Lemont.
Sameer Gowani lost his life early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle accident along 135th Street in Lemont.
According to authorities, a Tesla Model 3 speeding eastbound along 135th Street lost control at a curve in the roadway near Archer Avenue around 2 a.m. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the curb, flew off the roadway, and landed in a ravine.
A front seat passenger, identified as 36-year-old Lisle resident Sameer S. Gowani, tragically died from injuries he suffered in the wreck.
A second passenger was thrown from the vehicle upon impact and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
The driver was transported to Silver Cross Hospital with unspecified injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 1,268 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the state of Illinois in 2022.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the results of any investigations, the family of Sameer Gowani may pursue a wrongful death claim. Survivors of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.
Bond, a national legal analyst for Newsline, said, “Grieving families of victims are sometimes overwhelmed by the legal processes that are in place to protect their rights. An attorney can be a valuable and compassionate resource to help guide a family during difficult times and ensure that those left behind receive the restitution they are entitled to.”
“No amount of money is enough for a victim or their family to deal with the trauma and pain they experienced after a catastrophic crash. However, an attorney can help ease the financial burden and provide a path forward,” Bond stated.
