Both vehicles became engulfed in flames following the impact, authorities say
CAMBRIDGE, OH, (December 04, 2024) - A double fatality crash occurred between two commercial vehicles along Interstate 77 on Wednesday, according to the Cambridge Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Sukhginder Singh was injured following a two-vehicle crash along Interstate 77 in Guernsey County on Wednesday, according to the Highway Patrol. The incident left two people dead.
One person—identified as Sukhginder Singh—was injured in the incident, the OSHP said in a report.
Based on preliminary reports, a white Freightliner semi-truck was traveling southbound on the interstate when, for unknown reasons, its driver crossed the median and slammed head-on into a red semi-truck in the northbound lane. Both vehicles caught fire after the impact, leaving the red truck almost unrecognizable. The driver and a passenger of the white Freightliner died at the scene from injuries.
Singh, driving the red semi, was brought to Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center (SEORMC).
The investigation remains underway.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Driving a heavy-duty vehicle is very difficult as it involves hours of traveling, and there is every chance the driver could be exhausted and, therefore, prone to causing accidents.
According to the National Safety Council, an estimated 150,000 people are injured because of large trucking accidents, and an additional 4,900 people are killed each year.
Candice Bond, an experienced semi-truck crash attorney, noted that investigating semi-truck crashes requires several resources. Attorneys can investigate the accident scene and carefully examine the rig, the trucker, the company’s logbooks, and other records to preserve important evidence for the victim’s grieving family.
“A skilled attorney can protect an injured victim from trucking companies, which often send their investigators to crash sites and possess a variety of resources they can utilize in an attempt to defend a negligent truck driver,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Sukhginder Singh may be entitled to an injury claim, and they may seek recovery for damages, including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.
“A major injury means that there will be a lot of challenges ahead. Attorneys know how to handle all the legal aspects of a case so a person could focus on healing and moving forward,” Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Newsline, said.
Bond added, “It doesn’t matter how large an insurance company a victim of a major crash is fighting; an attorney with experience and resources will ensure that the victim's rights are protected and injuries are properly compensated.”
