The Secret Service is investigating two of its agents for taking selfies with 8-year-old Donald Trump III last weekend, reports from Mother Jones said.
The boy is one of 5 children of Donald Trump Jr. and his wife Vanessa.
The President’s grandson and his security detail, of which the two agents were part of, were on the way with the child from a Trump family estate in Westchester County to Manhattan, according to the reports early on Thursday.
The agents started taking selfies after the boy fell asleep in the vehicle. The commotion caused Donald III to wake up.
A source informed Mother Jones that little Donald was “freaked out” by the actions of his guardians.
When he got home, he related what occurred to his mother and the incident was immediately brought to the attention of the Secret Service by top-level staff.
According to the agency, the said agents are under investigation for deserting their posts.
In a statement regarding the issue, an agency spokesman said: “The US Secret Service is aware of a matter involving two of our agents and one of our protectees. Our Office of Professional Responsibility will always thoroughly review a matter to determine the facts and to ensure proper, long-standing protocols and procedures are followed. The Secret Service would caution individuals to not jump to conclusions that may grossly mischaracterize the matter.”
President Donald Trump enjoys a good relationship with his protectors and the matter with Donald III is considered as an isolated incident.
