PICKAWAY, OH, (October 23, 2024) - A significant traffic accident occurred last week on Ohio 56, resulting in serious injuries to a 52-year-old Kingston woman. The incident took place on Oct. 23 at around 6:30 p.m. when a driver lost control of his vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic.

Police Lights Colleen Kinder A serious traffic accident along Ohio 56 occurred on Oct. 23, leaving 52-year-old Colleen Kinder with significant injuries.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra westbound on the highway when he veered left of center and collided head-on with a 2016 Lincoln MKS that was traveling east. The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway. In addition to the two primary vehicles, a third vehicle, a 2017 Kia, was also struck during the crash.

The driver of the Lincoln, identified as Colleen Kinder of Kingston, sustained serious injuries and was first transported to Berger Hospital before being transferred to Grant Medical Center for further treatment.

Fortunately, the driver of the Kia escaped unscathed, and the suspect in the GMC reported only minor injuries.

Authorities have charged the suspect with operating a vehicle without reasonable control and are investigating the possibility that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Each year, motor vehicle crashes in this country kill roughly 36,000 people and injure 1.9 million more. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, an experienced attorney and Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Colleen Kinder may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Bond said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.

"Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” she added.
