Police investigating double-fatal accident involving hit-and-run driver on Interstate 71
MEDINA, OH, (October 31, 2024) - Two people lost their lives Thursday night in a multi-vehicle accident involving a commercial vehicle in Medina County.
Daved Brown was fatally injured Thursday night in a multi-vehicle collision along Interstate 71 in Medina County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), 68-year-old Cincinnati resident Daved Brown was driving a Volvo commercial vehicle southbound along Interstate 71 when he stopped in the right lane around 10:12 p.m. due to a mechanical issue. Subsequently, the Volvo was struck by a southbound 2018 Chevrolet Trax and then another commercial vehicle that left the scene.
Tragically, Brown succumbed to his injuries at the site of the wreck.
The driver of the Chevrolet was also fatally injured.
OSHP continues to investigate the incident and is actively searching for the hit-and-run motorist involved.
CRASH INVESTIGATION
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 42,915 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2021, an increase of over 10 percent from 2020.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the results of any investigations, the family of Daved Brown may pursue a wrongful death claim. Survivors of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.
Bond, a national legal analyst for Newsline, said, “Grieving families of victims are sometimes overwhelmed by the legal processes that are in place to protect their rights. An attorney can be a valuable and compassionate resource to help guide a family during difficult times and ensure that those left behind receive the restitution they are entitled to.”
“No amount of money is enough for a victim or their family to deal with the trauma and pain they experienced after a catastrophic crash. However, an attorney can help ease the financial burden and provide a path forward,” Bond stated.
