1 dead, 1 injured in Sunday morning collision on Arch Street

PULASKI, AR, (September 08, 2024) - A 48-year-old woman lost her life Sunday morning in a head-on motor vehicle accident in Pulaski County.

Head-on CrashJennifer Morton was fatally injured Sunday morning when the vehicle she was driving was struck head-on by a pickup truck in Pulaski County.

According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), Jennifer Morton, of Little Rock, was operating a Honda CRV northbound along Arch Street when a southbound Ford F-150 pickup truck traveled across the roadway and collided with the Honda head-on around 5:44 a.m.

Tragically, Morton died from injuries she sustained in the crash.

The 30-year-old man driving the pickup was transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) with unspecified injuries.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

The most common cause of head-on accidents is driver error. However, they are also caused by speeding, distracted driving, drunken driving, poor road design, inexperienced drivers, and confusion from the driver.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 42,915 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2021, an increase of over 10 percent from 2020.

“Contributing factors to be examined include road conditions, visibility, and lighting,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Jennifer Morton may pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

“Stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand just what families must go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
