Impairment might have contributed to collision along U.S. 30

STARK, OH, (August 31, 2024) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Saturday evening that occurred in Stark County.

Police Lights Michael OsborneMichael Osborne was seriously injured as the result of a collision Saturday evening along U.S. 30 in Stark County. One woman died in the wreck.

The incident took place at approximately 6:26 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Broadway Avenue NE.

According to troopers, a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, driven by a 34-year-old Canton woman, was traveling south on Broadway Avenue when it veered left of center while making a turn. Consequently, the pickup collided head-on with a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in a field.

The woman was transported to Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed.

According to OSHP, Louisville Township EMS took 66-year-old Michael Osborne of North Canton to Aultman Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities indicating that alcohol and/or drugs may have been factors in the incident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

“It is imperative to determine the exact cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to review applicable insurance coverage, hire expert witnesses, run background checks, and locate witnesses. We carefully guide the victim's family through the process,” said Candice Bond, a managing partner with Bond Legal.

She noted that, in cases such as this, an independent investigation is crucial to preserve evidence.

“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond. “A lawyer has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct drivers’ background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help guide an injury victim through what can be a complicated process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Michael Osborne may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.

"Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” he added.
