BATAVIA, OH, (September 03, 2024) - One person was killed and another seriously hurt in a multi-vehicle crash in Clermont County Tuesday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

fatal crash car Tassie Sherman, a 51-year-old Blanchester resident, tragically lost her life in a multi-vehicle wreck in Batavia Township Tuesday afternoon, according to OSHP.

The incident happened at approximately 2 p.m. in Batavia Township. An initial investigation revealed that a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic was stopped south on Herold Road at State Route 32. At the same time, a 2020 Lincoln Navigator was traveling east on Route 32. A third vehicle—a 2019 Infiniti QX60—was also stopped northbound on Herold.

Authorities say the Chevrolet entered the intersection and collided with the Lincoln. The Chevrolet then crashed into the Infiniti QX60 and came to rest.

Tassie Sherman, 51, of Blanchester, a passenger in the Chevrolet, died as a result of injuries.

A 71-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet was hospitalized with serious injuries, the OSHP said.

This is an ongoing investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.

While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for The Legal Advocate.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this one, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family members of Tassie Sherman may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident.

“We understand that losing a loved one is not only a deeply emotional loss but also an economic one,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal.

“If you have lost a loved one due to someone else’s negligence, contact a wrongful death attorney and get the guidance needed to obtain the justice you deserve.”
