1 dead, 1 hurt in Friday night car crash along Oklahoma Highway 59

SEMINOLE, OK, (November 01, 2024) - One person died and another was hospitalized Friday night in a head-on motor vehicle collision outside of Lima in Seminole County.

Head-on CrashHonee Wadkins was seriously injured Friday night in a head-on motor vehicle collision along Oklahoma Highway 59 in Seminole County.

According to officials, 49-year-old Wewoka resident Honee Wadkins was driving a vehicle westbound along Oklahoma State Highway 59 at approximately 8 p.m. At the same time, an eastbound motorist traveled onto the westbound side of the roadway while trying to pass another driver and slammed into Wadkins head-on.

Wadkins was seriously injured and flown to OU Medical Hospital for treatment.

The 33-year-old man driving the eastbound vehicle died at the site of the crash.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

The most common cause of head-on accidents is driver error. However, they are also caused by speeding, distracted driving, drunken driving, poor road design, inexperienced drivers, and confusion from the driver.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 42,915 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2021, an increase of over 10 percent from 2020.

“Contributing factors to be examined include road conditions, visibility, and lighting,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Honee Wadkins may be entitled to an injury claim, and they may seek recovery for damages, including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.

“A major injury means that there will be a lot of challenges ahead. Attorneys know how to handle all the legal aspects of a case so a person could focus on healing and moving forward,” Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Newsline, said.

Bond added, “It doesn’t matter how large an insurance company a victim of a major crash is fighting; an attorney with experience and resources will ensure that the victim's right are protected and injuries are properly compensated.”
