1 dead, 1 hurt in three-vehicle crash at U.S. Highway 75 and 106th Street
Sperry, OK, (November 06, 2024) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) says one person died and another was injured Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle accident outside of Sperry.
Leonardo Leon-Montanez was injured Wednesday morning in a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and 106th Street east of Sperry.
According to authorities, a vehicle heading westbound along 106th Street neglected to stop at a stop sign and collided with a northbound motorist, identified as 21-year-old Leonardo Leon-Montanez, along U.S. Highway 75 around 8:24 a.m. After impact, the westbound car crashed into a vehicle on the southbound side of the roadway.
Leon-Montanez sustained injuries to his head and trunk and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The 71-year-old woman driving the westbound vehicle died at the site of the crash.
CRASH INVESTIGATION
According to the Federal Highway Administration, approximately 40 percent of car collisions occur at road intersections, and the cause is usually related to running a stop sign or a stoplight. Some of the reasons drivers blow through stop signs and traffic lights include impatience, reckless driving, and distracted driving.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Leonardo Leon-Montanez may be entitled to an injury claim, and they may seek recovery for damages, including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.
“A major injury means that there will be a lot of challenges ahead. Attorneys know how to handle all the legal aspects of a case so a person could focus on healing and moving forward,” Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Newsline, said.
Bond added, “It doesn’t matter how large an insurance company a victim of a major crash is fighting; an attorney with experience and resources will ensure that the victim's right are protected and injuries are properly compensated.”
