Driver charged after Saturday night rollover crash at the interstates 182 and 82 interchange
BENTON, WA, (November 02, 2024) - One person was seriously injured in a Saturday night hit-and-run single-vehicle car accident near Richland in Benton County.
Nivie Sizemore was hospitalized after the vehicle she was traveling in overturned and driver fled the scene near the interchange at interstates 182 and 82 in Benton County.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) reports a Subaru Outback traveling westbound along Interstate 182 overturned near the Interstate 82 interchange at approximately 11 p.m.
A passenger, 45-year-old Richland resident Nivie Sizemore, was hurt in the wreck and transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The driver fled the scene on foot but was later located and taken into custody on suspicion of felony vehicular assault.
The incident remains under investigation.
HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, but sadly statistics indicate that approximately 11 percent of all crashes involve a hit-and-run driver.
In most cases involving hit-and-runs, the at-fault drivers feel they can avoid the consequences of their actions if they leave the scene. However, a suspect will be charged when apprehended.
Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said in such cases is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney promptly to protect the rights of a victim.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, a Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that must be fully considered. These procedures are necessary for helping someone who has been injured by a hit-and-run driver receive the justice and monetary compensation that they deserve.”
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Nivie Sizemore may be entitled to an injury claim, and they may seek recovery for damages, including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.
“A major injury means that there will be a lot of challenges ahead. Attorneys know how to handle all the legal aspects of a case so a person could focus on healing and moving forward,” Bond, who is also a national legal analyst for Newsline, said.
Bond added, “It doesn’t matter how large an insurance company a victim of a major crash is fighting; an attorney with experience and resources will ensure that the victim's right are protected and injuries are properly compensated.”
